ST&D 2023 Travel Information

Arrival by Plane

The easiest way to travel to Oslo, Norway is by plane. The airport closest to Oslo is Oslo Airport Gardermoen (OSL), located only 47 kilometers from the capital. From and to the airport, we recommend taking the Flytoget Airport Express train into the city center. This train takes about 20 minutes and departs every ten minutes on weekdays (every twenty minutes in the evening and during the weekend).

Buy your tickets at the airport and the train station, online, or via the Flytoget app.

Other options to travel to the city center from the airport are:

  • Regional trains – see vy.no/en
  • Buses – see Flybussen
  • Taxi – can be booked using a Taxi Booking machine at the taxi pick up area at the airport.

Please be aware that taxis are expensive in Norway, we therefore recommend using the public transportation available.

You may also come across flights to Torp Sandefjord Airport (TRF). Please note that this airport is located 110 kilometers away from Oslo, and travel by bus or train can take up to two hours.

Transportation within Oslo

Oslo has a local public transportation system called Ruter. With only one App (Ruter), you can use the many buses, trams, metros and even ferries in the city. The app is available for Android and Iphone.

You can opt for a single ticket, a 24-hour pass or 7-day pass. Plan your trip and buy your ticket using the Ruter app, or visit Ruter’s Customer Service Center at Oslo Central Station to buy a physical pass or for help with installing the app.
Many of the sights and museums are at a walkable distance from the hotels.
