The Department of Educational Psychology (http://ed-psych.utah.edu/) in the College of Education at the University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level with primary responsibilities in Statistics and/or Measurement in the Learning Sciences program. The Learning Sciences program offers undergraduate and graduate instruction in the areas of learning, cognition, and educational psychology. Faculty members conduct basic or applied research in their area of expertise, and also provide support to the department’s professional programs (i.e., Counseling Psychology and School Psychology).
Responsibilities: In addition to service at the program, college, and university levels, responsibilities will include: (1) development and maintenance of an ongoing program of scholarly research related to learning, cognition, individual differences, or other Learning Sciences related specialties; (2) design, teaching, and coordination of core courses at the graduate level in either statistics (e.g., hypothesis testing, analysis of variance, multiple regression, hierarchical linear modeling, multiple analysis of variance, discriminant analysis, and other relevant graduate statistics topics) or measurement (e.g., reliability, validity, classical test theory, item response theory, generalizability theory, and other relevant graduate measurement topics); (3) advisement and supervision of graduate student masters theses and doctoral dissertations; and (4) development of research funding proposals to appropriate national agencies and foundations.
Qualifications: This position requires an earned doctorate in Educational Psychology, Learning Sciences, Cognitive Psychology, Cognitive Science, Psychology, or a related field. Candidates should have a strong program of theory-driven research that studies learning, cognition, individual differences, or other Learning Sciences related specialties. Candidates should be able to teach graduate level courses in statistics, measurement, cognition, learning science, and related areas. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong commitment to research that is grounded in psychological theories of learning and cognition.
