“Learning, Educational Achievement, and Life Course Development” (LEAD) at the University of Tübingen is seeking three highly motivated Junior Research Group Leaders, funded by the Excellence Initiative of the German Federal and State Governments.
Position 1: Junior research group leader at the interface of linguistics/cognitive modeling and educational science
The junior research group leader is expected to combine linguistic research into language acquisition, reading competence, language teaching, or intelligent computerassisted language learning with psychometric expertise in the field of educational science and psychology. The successful applicant will build a cutting-edge research agenda developing models of language-related competencies, measurement techniques, or interventions. The research agenda may include topics such as evaluating existing or new interventions to improve reading competence, linguistic correlates and criterial features of CEFR levels of language proficiency, measures of readability and automatic text simplification, intelligent language tutoring systems, input enhancement and language awareness, or language task design.
The successful candidate holds an excellent PhD in either Psychology, Educational Science, Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, or a related field.
Position 2: Junior research group leader at the interface of clinical psychology and educational science
The junior research group leader is expected to combine research in the field of clinical psychology/psychiatry with educational science. We are specifically interested in a research profile that includes conduct and attentional problems (externalizing disorders). In addition, experience or interest in the field of anxiety and mood (internalizing) disorders among children and adolescents would be ideal. The ideal candidate will have experience in the field of clinical and experimental psychology, psychological intervention, neurobiology and psychophysiology. The successful candidate is expected to develop a cutting-edge research agenda which may, for instance, address the role of emotional sensitivity and emotion regulation among adolescents with externalizing problems, attention and hyperactivity including neurofeedback interventions among children, the development of prevention programs to build up life (social) and conflict management skills, or related topics.
The successful candidate holds an excellent PhD in either Psychology or a related field.
Position 3: Junior research group leader at the interface between neuroscience/informatics and educational science („Educational Neuroscience“)
The junior research group leader is expected to combine research in the field of neuroscience/informatics with educational science. The successful candidate is expected to have documented experience and expertise in the planning and implementation of experimental studies as well as psychophysiological methods and functional imaging techniques, preferably including at least one method well-suited for application in samples of school children (e.g., electroencephalography/EEG, near-infrared spectroscopy/NIRS, eye-tracking, measurements of electrodermal activity, fMRI). The successful candidate will aim to develop a cutting edge research agenda that may, for instance, address the neuropsychological underpinnings of information processing related to learning, neuropsychological correlates of academic success and failure, or design of intervention methods.
The successful candidate holds a doctoral degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Informatics, or a neighboring discipline and is expected to have excellent knowledge in the fundamentals of neuroscience as well as psychological methodology.
