FABBS is pleased to announce the publication of Volume 3 of our journal, Policy Insights from the Behavioral and Brain Sciences (PIBBS). PIBBS publishes invited articles that present original research and reviews of scientific findings of relevance to public policy.
Each volume has valuable information key to your members. We hope that your society members will take advantage of the FABBS member benefit of deeply discounted subscription rates on PIBBS. SAGE has provided a toolkit for advertising this information to your members here: http://bbs.sagepub.com/site/misc/v3/toolkit.xhtml. The toolkit includes text you can use for your listserv as well as an HTML email. Please distribute through your preferred mechanism, and limit distribution to your membership.
The goal of this journal is to provide a vehicle for scientists to share research findings to help build sound policies, and importantly, allow those who design policies or implement research findings to provide feedback to the scientific community regarding the types of research that could address them. PIBBS will challenge the scientific community to build models, provide evidence, and consider obstacles to implementation, so as to address the needs of society.
Opening with this issue, the third year of PIBBS focuses on education policy insights from behavioral and brain sciences. Contributions show how to improve various aspects of education: instructional strategies; critical reasoning and thinking; reading, writing, and language; school climate; and equity. Policymakers, teachers, parents, and education researchers all can benefit from these expert perspectives.
