Airports
In particular if you are travelling from overseas, the most convenient airport to fly to is Frankfurt am Main (FRA). Other airports nearby are Kassel-Calden, Hannover, and Paderborn.
There are connecting trains from Frankfurt, Hannover, and Paderborn to the station “Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe”. From Kassel-Calden Airport, you can take a bus or taxi to the city.
Railway Stations
The main railway station is Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe (not as one might think Kassel Hauptbahnhof). Train schedules can be found at www.bahn.de. From here, most places in the city (including the recommended hotels) are just a short tram ride away.
Hotel
Accommodation has been reserved in the hotels “Astoria” and “Schweizer Hof” for participants of the conference and can be booked via: http://www.kassel-marketing.de/de/kontingente/society-for-text-and-discourse-
Please note that the displayed prices are the total prices for four nights! Rooms are limited and will only remain reserved until May 20, so please make your reservation as soon as possible. The Campus is located at the tram station Holländische Straße/Universität and is easy to reach by tram or bus (more information can be found on the conference website).
Student Accommodation
There is a youth hostel in Kassel, in which rooms can be booked via http://www.jugendherberge.de/en/youth-hostels/kassel489/booking?bid=8534e8c5-cb41-4f88-82ec-0b282dd1fe32
Other low cost options, such as pensions or bed & breakfasts, can be found via HRS.
Workshops
We are offering three free workshops taking place on Monday July 18 from 9am to noon. You will only be able to sign up for one. The first 25 people to sign up for each will be allocated a spot.
If you have any difficulties in registering or any questions regarding the conference, please do not hesitate to contact us via std2016@uni-kassel.de.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Kassel!
