2014 Award announcements

Dear members of the Society for Text & Discourse,

On behalf of the awards committee, it is my pleasure to announce the winners of the Trabasso, Albrecht, and Outstanding Student Paper Awards:

   Tom Trabasso Young Investigator’s Award:  Katherine Rawson, Kent State University, USA

   Jason Albrecht Outstanding Young Scientist Award: Stephen Briner, University of Illinois, Chicago, USA: “Hemispheric Processing of High and Low Ambiguity Idioms”

   Outstanding Student Paper Award: David Markowitz, Cornell University, USA: “Linguistic Patterns in Fraudulent Science Writing Style”

On behalf of the Society, I also would like to thank the members of the awards committees:

   Tom Trabasso Young Investigator Award – Brooke Lea (chair), Susan Brennan, David Rapp, Tobias Richter

   Jason Albrecht Award, and Outstanding Student Paper Award – Brooke Lea (chair),  Sid Horton, Johanna Kaakinen, Chantal Pratt

Finally, while we acknowledge the accomplishments of all of these outstanding scientists, it’s a good time to register for the upcoming ST&D conference in Chicago.
